NBPOL Wins Sustainable Pathfinder Award

NBPOL was recently recognised by one of the world’s renowned environmental NGO, the Rainforest Alliance, with the “Sustainable Pathfinder Award” for its leadership in responsible palm oil business.

The Sustainable Pathfinders Award recognises companies from various industries for the work done to advance sustainable practices. This is the first time that such an award was presented to a company in the palm oil sector.

Rainforest Alliance Chief of Sustainable Supply Chain, Britta Bisang, presented the award to NBPOL’s Group Head of Sustainability, Ian Orrell, in the presence of Sime Darby Plantation Downstream’s Head of Europe, Middle East & Africa, Andrew Worrall, at Rainforest Alliance’s 31st Spring Gala at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City on 9 May 2018.

NBPOL’s diligence in adopting the FPIC (Free, Prior and Informed Consent) in its oil palm development and climate change adaptation as well as mitigation measures to improve farmers’ livelihoods in PNG are some of the works that entitled the company for the award.
